MADISON (AP) - The state has filed a lawsuit against a dating service.
The Justice Department claims Great Expectations and its parent company, JRM Management LLC has committed many violations of the state's consumer protection laws.
The lawsuit says the dating service overstated the number of participating members, including the number of Milwaukee-area members, the number of members in particular age ranges and the number of members who get married each month.
The lawsuit, filed in Milwaukee County Circuit Court, claims the service also misrepresented how it conducts criminal background checks and screens out prospective members with criminal histories.
A message left at JRM Management's offices and an e-mail to the company weren't immediately returned.
