Here's a look at the life of Gov. Jim Doyle, who announced Monday he will not run for a third term:
Nov. 23, 1945: Born to James E. Doyle Sr. and Ruth Bachhuber Doyle in Washington, D.C.
1946: Doyle's family returned to Wisconsin, moving to Madison.
1963 to 1967: Attended Stanford University for three years then finished his senior year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
1967-1969: Volunteered for U.S. Peace Corps in Tunisia.
1972: Graduated from Harvard Law School.
1972-1976: Worked on the Navajo Reservation in Chinle, Ariz., with his wife, Jessica Doyle.
1976-1982: Served three terms as Dane County district attorney.
1982-1990: Worked as an attorney in private practice.
1990-2002: Served three terms as Wisconsin attorney general.
2002-present: Elected in 2002 and re-elected in 2006 as governor. Doyle, the first Democrat re-elected in 32 years, announced Monday he would not seek a third term.
