Songwriters aim to stop invasives

MADISON (AP) - Songwriters faced some special problems when recruited to create musical messages to teach anglers about preventing the spread of invasive species.

For example, what rhymes with the fish disease "viral hemorrhagic septicemia?"

None of the three original songs posted on a University of Wisconsin Web site quite tackles that one.

But they all try to give easy-listening lessons on rules to stop invasive species from spreading and causing problems.

The three:

- "One Bait, One Lake," a rock tune by Andrew Isham.

- "The Ballad of Aquatic Invasive Species," a folk-style song by Scott Gatzke.

- "Clean Boats, Clean Waters," a rockabilly song by James T. Spartz.
