PHILLIPS (AP) - A Phillips man convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend's mother has been sentenced to life in prison plus 80 years.

A judge on Wednesday said 42-year-old James Lahoud will not be eligible for parole.

Lahoud pleaded guilty this spring to first-degree intentional homicide and attempted first-degree homicide.

Fifty-eight-year-old Charlotte Engle was shot in the head and her daughter left for dead at their rural Prentice trailer home last year. Sarah Engle survived her wounds, a severe facial injury.

The criminal complaint says Lahoud confessed to the attack. It says he told investigators he was disappointed Wisconsin doesn't have the death penalty.

A message left Wednesday afternoon with the state public defender's office was not immediately returned
