RICHFIELD (AP) - Icy roads are blamed for a collision in Washington County that killed a Richfield man, his 9-year-old son, a 12-year-old girl and injured four others.
Authorities say 42-year-old Karl Ziebart was driving an SUV that was hit by a 1-ton flatbed truck on Highway 164 in the village of Richfield Sunday morning.
Ziebart, his son Luke and the girl from another family were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Ziebart's wife, Denise, the couple's two other children and the 12-year-old girl's 11-year-old brother were seriously injured.
Three men who were in the truck were not hurt. They are in the Washington County Jail on an Immigration & Naturalization Service hold.
Family members say the Ziebarts were on their way to Victory International Fellowship in Brookfield when the crash occurred.
