MILWAUKEE - An elephant wasn't planning on taking a bath at the Milwaukee County Zoo , but that's what happened after she slipped and fell into a moat.
Other than a few minor scratches, the 31-year-old elephant named Ruth was not hurt. Animal handlers tried luring her up makeshift stairs using the temptation of a tasty treat - pumpkins.
Nothing worked until they left her alone. Eventually, she found her own way out. The zoo director joked she was proving she didn't need any of their help.
