MADISON - In one week the Capitol Christmas tree will be lit in Madison.
The 37-foot balsam fir was selected from Meyer's Castle Tree Farm in Medford. That's the same tree farm that provided the White House Christmas tree in 1998.
Before the lights go on, the tree will be decorated with ornaments made by children across the state. The theme for this year's ornaments is "In Wisconsin."
"Wisconsin is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. I'm excited to see all of these great aspects of our state symbolized on this year's tree," said Gov. Scott Walker is a release.
Also, fourth-graders from Medford Elementary and Stetsonville Elementary schools have been invited to sing at the tree lighting ceremony.
