MADISON - Kids have a chance to win a ride-along with a state trooper by participating in a summer reading program.
Children 10 and under who read at least 10 books featuring different types of transportation are eligible, the state Department of Transportation says. All children who complete the task will receive a small gift, then be entered to win a ride-along.
The Transportation Reading Challenge is part of Gov. Scott Walker’s Read to Lead initiative. DOT officials say the challenge is meant to help kids learn about transportation topics and careers.
The challenge runs through Aug. 31.
