MILWAUKEE (AP) - A former Milwaukee County sheriff's sergeant has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for producing child pornography.
Forty-one-year-old Philip Wentzel was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty in federal court to an additional court of producing child pornography. Wentzel had pleaded guilty in September to six counts of producing child pornography.
U.S. Attorney James Santelle says Wentzel, formerly of West Allis, will be on 10 years of supervised release after he serves his prison time.
Prosecutors say Wentzel took photographs of young girls at a campsite he reserved in Campbellsport. Federal investigators say he shared the photos through an Internet peer-to-peer file sharing network.
Each of the seven counts involved a different girl.
Wentzel resigned from the sheriff's department after he was charged in May.
