Fallone promises to disallow certain contributions

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate Ed Fallone says he supports requiring justices to step aside in cases involving parties who had made political donations to members on the court.

Fallone said Thursday that if he wins the April 2 election against Justice Pat Roggensack he will work with others on the court to reverse a rule allowing the donations.

Roggensack was one of four justices who voted for the rule in 2009.

Fallone says in a statement the rules need to change to "keep special interest money out of the decisions of the court."

Roggensack's spokesman Brandon Scholz says Fallone's call for change "falls flat" because "he failed to demonstrate how contributions and endorsements have impacted decisions made and rendered by the Supreme Court."
