MUSKEGO, Wis. - Officials are investigating after a fire in Muskego destroyed a home early Sunday morning.
The blaze happened along Hidden Creek Court at around 4:00.
Everyone made it out of the home safely.
Fire officials had to battle wind and freezing temperatures while fighting the blaze.
Neighbors say some of the flames shot anywhere from 20 to 30 feet in the air.
Officials said the homeowner woke up to a glow and helped rescue his family.
"Saw the trees on the north side of the house was glowing, so he thought the garage was on fire. So he came down and opened up the garage door, and saw that the garage was on fire, and came down and got everybody out of the house," said Tess Corners fire chief Carl Wojnowski.
Three cars were also destroyed in the blaze.
The Red Cross is assisting the family.
The fire's cause is under investigation.
