Hank Aaron addresses Marquette grads

MILWAUKEE - A big crowd at the Bradley Center came Sunday for a commencement. But also, to see legend Hank Aaron.

Hammerin' Hank's message was simple - work hard and don't take shortcuts.

"Cheating for whatever reason and in any field is wrong and is at best, a temporary solution to a real problem," said Aaron, drawing on a Hall of Fame career.

He overcame adversity when chasing Babe Ruth's home run record.

Sunday, Aaron told the graduates they'll be better off for the challenges they'll face.

"In good times and in bad times, you will be expected to make the best of the education opportunity you have been given," he said.

"It's a great message - the one thing is yes you did this but there's absolutely more to do - more in school, more in your job," said Marquette graduate Joseph Godziszewski.

Aaron said graduation marks the completion of one set of goals, and urged the graduates to now set higher goals, and reach for those.
