MILWAUKEE (AP) - Baseball legend Hank Aaron will speak at Marquette University's graduation ceremonies in May.

Aaron played as an outfielder for the Milwaukee Braves, Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers from 1954 to 1976. His accomplishments include breaking Babe Ruth's home run record in 1974, a record that has since been broken.

He hit his 755th and final home run at Milwaukee County Stadium in 1976.

In a statement, Marquette University president Father Scott Pilarz said Aaron is a superb role model for the graduations. He commended him for his contributions to baseball as well as his work for racial equality and civil rights.

The school says Aaron will also receive an honorary doctor of humane letters degree at the ceremony May 20.
