MILWAUKEE (AP) - The latest fundraising numbers show that Wisconsin's congressional incumbents have an edge heading into next month's elections.
The candidates in all eight House races have until just before midnight Thursday to file their current numbers, covering Oct. 1 through Oct. 17. About half had done so as of Thursday afternoon.
Those figures show the challengers facing an uphill battle.
One of the most watched races is in the 8th District, where Republican U.S. Rep. Reid Ribble faces Democrat Jamie Wall. Ribble reported having $475,000 cash on hand, while Wall has about $130,000 in the bank.
And in the 1st District, U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan is seeking re-election even as he runs for vice president. He has just under $3 million on hand, while Democratic challenger Rob Zerban had $666,000.
