Recovery continues after falling from ride

MADISON - A Florida teen is still on the road to recovery, nearly two years after falling from an amusement park ride in Lake Delton.

Teagan Marti suffered serious injuries when she fell 100 feet to the ground. Safety equipment on the ride was not properly used.

Marti was taken to American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, where she could not move her arms or legs.

"I didn't know if she'd ever walk again, I didn't know if she'd ever have feeling again, we just didn't know for sure," said Teagan's mother, Julie.

After several weeks at the hospital, Marti returned home to Florida, still using a machine to help her breathe.

This week, Teagan and her mother returned to the hospital in Madison to show off her progress. Marti is able to walk, mostly with the help of a walker. But she can also take steps on her own.

The two were also at the hospital for a big fundraising announcement. American Family Children's Hospital plans to expand and add more beds for patients.

Julie Marti wondered, "What if the day this happened to Teagan, there were no beds? What do you do? Where do you go?"

She says her family owes everything to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Teagan is taking online classes and hopes to graduate on time.
