RACINE, Wis. (AP) - A Racine man who collided head-on with another driver in an intersection has been charged with eighth-offense drunken driving.
A Journal Times of Racine report says 58-year-old Cruz R. Castro is accused of colliding into a vehicle and fleeing the scene this week. His preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.
A family friend of Castro told police she heard the crash and went outside to see Castro's vehicle crashed against the other vehicle. She says Castro told her to "get this man a ride."
Police found Castro in the friend's home, lying in a bedroom in his underwear. He was taken to a hospital for a blood draw, and police said he "performed poorly" on field-sobriety tests.
A message left with Castro's public defender Saturday wasn't immediately returned.
