MILWAUKEE (AP) - The city of Milwaukee has received a federal grant worth $1.2 million to expand a community center that will provide employment and education services.

The money will be used to build the Milwaukee i-Center.

The center's purpose is to offer introductory and advanced computer courses to help residents learn more about the technology used in workplaces. It will also provide job-search services and offer computer and software training.

The grant is from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

HUD executive Antonio Riley says the funding fills the gap for public-housing agencies that want to provide educational and employment services but lack the resources.
