WISCONSIN RAPIDS (AP) - A Nekoosa man and a Racine woman are charged with physically abusing an 8-month-old boy.
Twenty-seven-year-old Robert Winker and 20-year-old Kurstyn Bieneman are facing multiple felony charges in Wood County, including child neglect resulting in great bodily harm.
A criminal complaint says the two were staying at a Nekoosa residence last August and were responsible for the baby's care. The child's grandmother took the boy to the hospital after discovering injuries.
The Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune (http://wrtnews.co/UXzxSa ) says medical records show the baby had fractures in his wrist, legs, ankle and ribs. He also had a swollen eye, blood in his ear canals and bruises on his face.
A criminal complaint says Winker told investigators Bieneman was physically rough with the baby. Bieneman says she saw Winker shake the child.
