MILWAUKEE - Former Nuclear Regulatory Commission Commissioner Peter Bradford is in Wisconsin on Thursday and Friday to talk about the costs of nuclear power.
Bradford plans to speak on Thursday in Milwaukee at the Urban Ecology Center and will give a legislative briefing at the state Capitol on Friday.
Bradford's tour highlights the total cost of nuclear energy, and he'll discuss the financial risks involved for electric customers and residents in order to build new nuclear reactors.
Bradford believes that the exorbitant costs, long times needed to begin operation and the shift of economic risks to customers and residents make them a poor choice when discussing options to curb climate change.
Bradford served as an NRC commissioner from 1977-82.
