MILWAUKEE (AP) - A judge says prosecutors can proceed with a case against four Milwaukee police officers charged with conducting illegal strip searches of suspects.
Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Jeffrey Wagner ruled Friday that prosecutors have sufficient probable cause.
Wagner heard about three hours of testimony from a Milwaukee police detective who recapped secret testimony from nine alleged victims that led to the charges last month.
The men allege that Officer Michael Vagnini stopped them and performed a cavity search, saying he was looking for drugs.
Attorneys for the other officers argued that what their clients are accused of doing didn't rise to party-to-a-crime liability.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the judge denied the motions to dismiss the complaint. The four officers remain on paid leave. Arraignment is set for Nov. 15.
