MADISON - Although no one in Wisconsin hit the recent Powerball jackpot, lottery officials say taxpayers won.
In the run up to Wednesday's record $587.5 million jackpot, the Wisconsin Lottery says the game produced $11 million for property tax relief in a little more than seven weeks.

With 40 cents of every Powerball dollar going toward tax relief, Wisconsin Lottery director Mike Edmonds says Powerball raises more revenue for property tax relief than any other single game. The game accounted for close to 15 percent of the lottery's $547 million in sales in the fiscal year that ended June 30. Of the $144 million those sales generated for tax relief, Powerball accounted for 22 percent.
Two winning tickets were sold for Wednesday's drawing, one in Missouri and one in Arizona.
