MADISON (AP) - State regulators have rejected a wind farm proposal in St. Croix County, citing concerns about the impact of turbine noise on nearby homes.
Hubertus-based Emerging Energies wants to build 41 turbines that would generate about 100 megawatts of power in the Town of Forest. The state Public Service Commission has jurisdiction over wind farm proposals with at least 100 megawatts of power.
Commissioners rejected the $250 million Highland project Thursday, but left the door open for the developer to file a new application for the project after it does a new noise study.
Emerging Energies representative Jay Mundinger tells the Journal Sentinel the company won't give up on the project.
