WASHINGTON - Republican members of Congress from Wisconsin focused on President Obama's plans for the economy, mentioned during his State of the Union address Tuesday night.
Senator Ron Johnson challenged the president in a satellite interview provided by the Republican Party, while FOX 11 spoke to Representative Reid Ribble over the phone.
"Higher taxes, increased spending, and more government control and intrusion into our lives, will not help our economy achieve its full growth and job creating potential. Yet this is the path that President Obama has put America on," said Johnson.
"He talked about refinancing of new, refinancing homes that are in foreclosure, and why it's so difficult and called for less regulation in regard to that, he doesn't need congress to change regulation, that's within his preview right now,” Ribble added.
New Democratic Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin praised the president in a statement, saying: "I applaud President Obama for renewing our commitment to creating a 'Made in America' economy by investing in job training and job readiness for advanced manufacturing."
