Man accused of hiding body to stand trial

MADISON (AP) - A man accused of hiding the body of a torture victim has been ordered to stand trial in Dane County.

Robert McCumber waived his right to a preliminary hearing in court Wednesday. The 28-year-old Mazomanie man told investigators Matthew Graville's half-brother ordered him to put Graville's body in a freezer, then he and the half-brother, Jeffrey Vogelsberg, buried the body near Lone Rock four days later.

A criminal complaint says McCumber told police Vogelsberg had badly beaten Graville on June 30 and that he found him dead the next morning. Prosecutors say the developmentally disabled victim was repeatedly tortured by Vogelsberg, who is jailed in Tacoma, Wash.

The State Journal reports Vogelsberg moved to Washington shortly after Graville died because Vogelsberg's wife is stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
