MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A report of nearby shots fired prompted a Madison elementary school to lock down.
Leopold Elementary School on Madison's south side was locked down Wednesday afternoon.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports there are no reports of anyone hurt.
Madison police say 911 callers said they heard shots around 1:30 p.m. near an intersection about a half-block from the school grounds. No shots were fired at the school or on school grounds.
Police alerted school staff about the investigation, and the school was locked down and all students kept indoors.
On its website, the school says classes were not disrupted and students were released on schedule when police said it was safe.
