STOUGHTON (AP) - Dane County sheriff's officials say a Minnesota man and his son were seriously injured when their single-engine plane crashed Monday in south-central Wisconsin.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Elise Schaffer says the 14-year-old boy was taken by air and his 51-year-old father was taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Madison. The sheriff's office identifies the father as Richard Cross and son as Brennan Cross, from Brewster, Minn.
Schaffer says their 1950s plane crashed about 9:30 a.m. in a grassy area in the middle of some woods shortly after taking off from Matson Airport in Stoughton. The father and son had visited the Experimental Aircraft Association convention in Oshkosh and spent the night at relatives in Stoughton. Schaffer says the two were on their way back to southwestern Minnesota when they went down.
