EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (AP) - Snowmobilers in search of prime powder are traveling to far northern Wisconsin to enjoy the outdoors.

The Eau Claire County snowmobile trail system is among the many that remain closed in Wisconsin because of a lack of snow this winter. Association president Jerry Vetterkind says the only option is to head north. The Eau Claire Leader-Telegram says Vetterkind headed to Eagle River last weekend.

There are more than 25,000 miles of snowmobile trails in Wisconsin. The state Department of Tourism updates trail conditions on the website travelwisconsin.com.
