A Grafton man says he killed his 14-year-old stepson out of revenge.

37-year-old Charles Avey has been charged with two counts including first degree intentional homicide.

Investigators say Avey admitted his victim was his own stepson, 14-year-old Cody Reetz.

Sunday police found Reetz' body in a car in the parking lot of the Germantown Walmart. Court documents show the teen's death was caused by strangulation.

Investigators believe the incident started back on November 8. That's the date Avey's accused of getting angry with his wife, and strangling her, pounding her head, arms, and back with hammer.

Sunday she reported the incident and that's when investigators believe Avey snapped.

A criminal complaint says Avey strangled Cody, because he believed Cody's biological father was not a good dad, and Avey wanted to get back at his wife for reporting the claim of domestic violence.

Investigators say they found notes from Avey blaming his in-laws for his alleged acts.

Avey was charged with a number of counts of identity theft in an unrelated case. He was accused of using Cody's birth father's name for that.

If convicted on the homicide charge he faces life in prison.
