MADISON, Wis. (AP) - The burglary suspect who was shot and killed by a police officer this week has been identified as 30-year-old Paul H. Heenan of Madison.

Police were called to a Madison home Friday about 3 a.m. after a woman called 911 to report hearing someone inside. She told police her husband had gone to investigate.

The first officer to arrive struggled with the suspected intruder and shot him. Heenan was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Dane County medical examiner's office confirmed on Saturday that he died of gun-related trauma.

Heenan's friends tell WISC-TV he'd just moved to the neighborhood, and mistakenly walked into the wrong home.

The Madison officer wasn't hurt and has been placed on administrative leave, standard protocol in an officer-involved shooting.
