OSCEOLA, Wis. (AP) - It took 10 law enforcement agencies and a Minnesota State Patrol helicopter to end a chase over 53 miles of roads in western Wisconsin roads, but the driver is still on the loose.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office says the chase began late Tuesday in Osceola when a police officer stopped an SUV for a traffic violation. It says the SUV fled north on Wisconsin Highway 35, avoiding road spikes placed by officers. Several items were thrown out of the vehicle at officers, including a spare tire and a tool box.
KSTP-TV reports the chase ended in a field 41 minutes later. A 22-year-old passenger from Hinckley, Minn., was caught by a police dog. A Minnesota State Patrol helicopter with an infrared camera was unable to find other suspects.
