MADISON (AP) - Incoming Sen. Tammy Baldwin has been named to Senate committees dealing with health, education, the budget and homeland security.
Baldwin will also serve on the Senate Special Committee on Aging. Her predecessor, outgoing Sen. Herb Kohl, also served on that committee.
The Democratic Baldwin is a former congresswoman who gave up her House seat to run for the Senate. Her appointment to the Senate Budget Committee comes after she served six years on the House Budget Committee.
She'll also be on the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government affairs. That committee oversees the Department of Homeland Security.
Baldwin will be sworn into the Senate on Jan. 3. She says she's looking forward to working across party lines to help the middle class and small businesses.
