UW-Superior recovers after flood

SUPERIOR (AP) - Repairs at the University of Wisconsin-Superior are nearly complete after June flooding devastated the campus.

Heavy rains caused flooding that damaged every building except the Service Center on the south side of campus.

But facilities management director Tom Fennessey tells the Superior Daily Telegram that repairs are about 95 percent complete. He's optimistic repairs will be finished when students return to campus in a couple of weeks.

The Jim Dan Hill Library recently reopened, and plans are in the works to test-fire the power plant.

UW-Superior Chancellor Renee Wachter credits BMS Cat, the catastrophic recovery team that arrived on campus, for marshaling resources and local contractors for making the needed repairs in time for students' return to campus this fall.

The storm caused more than $23 million in damage campus-wide.
