Walker says he has no interest in right to work

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - Gov. Scott Walker says he has no interest in making Wisconsin a right to work state and he won't allow the Republican-controlled Legislature to pass a bill that would do that.

Walker was asked Friday about the issue in light of a comments he made in newly released footage from January 2011 in which he talks about taking a "divide and conquer" approach to dealing with unions. Walker's opponents in an upcoming June 5 recall election say the comments point to his desire to make Wisconsin a right to work state.

Walker's proposal enacted into law last year effectively ended collective bargaining rights for most public workers.

But Walker said Friday he has worked well with private sector unions and he won't let any right to work bill pass.
