The snow that fell Wednesday night and Thursday morning came from a storm system known as an "Alberta Clipper."
An Alberta Clipper is a low pressure system that forms in southwestern Canada during the winter season.
These are typically fast-moving systems; hence the word "clipper," the name of fast moving 19th century sailing ships.
These storms often bring snow to Wisconsin and windy conditions too.
Snow amounts from these "clippers" typically range from 1-6".
