A series of direct messages on the microblogging service Twitter seems to be a “phishing” attack.
The messages appear in Twitter’s direct messaging function. The versions FOX 11 has seen contain messages inviting people to click on a link to watch a video. According to the social media site Mashable , the messages appear to be part of a “phishing” scam. “Phishing” is a scam where the originators try to gather private or secure information from Internet users.
The messages can be deleted from a user’s Twitter account.
Comments that are derogatory, attack other users, offer unsubstantiated facts, use foul language or are offensive in nature can and will be removed as defined by the Terms of Service.
