MILWAUKEE - After declining to make a splash at this month's winter meetings, the Milwaukee Brewers are adding depth via free agency.
The Brewers announced Monday morning that they had agreed to a contract with journeyman infielder Donnie Murphy.
Murphy, who spend the last three seasons with the Miami Marlins, hit .216 with three homeruns and 12 RBI in 2012. He started 17 games at third base, eight at second base and one game at shortstop.
Milwaukee signed Murphy to a minor-league deal with an invite to big-league camp. He has played 244 career games with Kansas City (2004-05), Oakland (2007-08) and Miami (2010-12).
