ASHWAUBENON - The Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team suspended senior Brennen Cougill indefinitely on Saturday for a violation of team policies, then went on to lose to the Salukis of Southern Illinois 72-70 at the Resch Center.
According to the team, Cougill violated team policy, and could be re-instated later in the season.
Head coach Brian Wardle released a statement, saying: " Brennan is a good-hearted young man who made a decision which led to him not living up to the principles and standards set for all of us associated with and representing our program and University. Brennan will have specific requirements and standards he will be expected to follow at this time, and when he does so he will be eligible to be re-instated."
As for the game, the Phoenix got 22 points from Keifer Sykes and led by four at the half, but weren't able to hold on, losing by two.
The loss drops the Phoenix to 3-7 on the season.
