GREEN BAY - University of Wisconsin-Green Bay women’s basketball coach Matt Bollant is leaving the program.
University of Illinois officials have called an 11 a.m. news conference to announce they have hired Bollant to coach the women’s basketball team.
Green Bay finished its season last week with a 65-62 loss to Kentucky in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Bollant came to Green Bay in 2007 and compiled a 148-19 record in five seasons. His Phoenix won the Horizon League title every year he was there. Bollant was 4-4 in the NCAA Tournament, leading the Phoenix into the Sweet Sixteen in 2011.
Illinois fired Jolette Law earlier this month after the team finished 11-19 and in ninth place in the Big Ten this past season.
