Phoenix top Youngstown State 67-58

GREEN BAY - The Green Bay Phoenix defeated Youngstown State 67-58 on Thursday night for their sixth straight win at home. Freshman Jordan Fouse led four Phoenix in double figures with 12 points.

The Penguins opened the game on a 7-0 run while Green Bay struggled to find their footing offensively. Green Bay took their first lead of the game at the 11:13 mark left in the first half when Carrington Love stopped on a dime and hit a short two pointer.

YSU proceeded to go on a 12-2 run to take a 21-13 lead with 6:26 to play in the first half. Green Bay closed hard though and tied it with 55 seconds to play in the opening half on a Brennan Cougill three point play.

Green Bay scored the first four points of the second half on buckets by Keifer Sykes and a dunk by Jordan Fouse. The Phoenix were in control most of the second half. Youngstown would hold the lead for the final time at the 10:58 mark when they were up 35-34.  The Phoenix responded with a 16-4 run capped by Alec Brown's first bucket of the night.

In addition to Fouse 12 points, Carrington Love and Brennan Cougill added 11 while Keifer Sykes had 10 points. Fouse also led Green Bay in rebounded with 9.

The Phoenix defense had another sterling defensive performance holding the Penguins to an icy 30.5 percent shooting for the game.

Green Bay, now 9-9 on the season and 3-2 in the Horizon, are back in action Saturday. They'll host Cleveland State at the Resch Center at 1 p.m.
