OSHKOSH - UW-Oshkosh overcame another slow start to beat Bethel 37-14 on Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Division III football playoffs.
Bethel was leading 14-0 until the final minute of the first half when Cole Myhra scored from one yard out. The first half was dominated by the Royals but the second half was all Titans.
Myhra tied the game early in the 3rd quarter, scoring from 3 yards out, making it 14-14.
UWO would add two more scores before the 3rd quarter was done. Nate Wara connected twice with Caleb Voss, for scoring plays of 36 and 27 yards respectively.
Myrha would score for a 3rd time, early in the 4th, this time catching a touchdown pass from Nate Wara. A safety would cap the scoring, making it a 37-14 final.
The Titans showed remarkable balance yet again, rushing for 230 yards as a team while throwing for 232.
Cole Myhra led the rushing attack with 178 yards on 26 carries and 2 touchdowns. Wara threw the ball 27 times while completing 18, with 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. That's one more interception than Wara had in the previous 11 games of the season.
UW-Oshkosh will face the winner of North Central and Linfield in the Sweet 16.
