Packers safety Nick Collins, who suffered a neck injury during the second game of the 2011 season, says he feels he is healing well, and plans to be back on the field for the Packers next season.
Talking to Bill Michaels on the syndicated "The Bill Michaels Show," Collins said though he won’t get actual medical clearance until March, he expects to be able to play.
“Everything is right on course,” said Collins. “I feel like I’m ahead of schedule right now. My mindset is I’m going to be back next year, and that’s how I focus and that’s how I get through my day when I go to work out.”
Collins, a three time Pro Bowler, underwent spinal fusion surgery after his injury and said he just keeps training, waiting for the official word.
“I’ve been working out and I don’t have any restrictions (lifting weights) except for real heavy weight on my neck, other than that I’ve been working out like a beast to get ready to play again,” he said.
