GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - Shareta Brown scored 24 points and Senee Shearer added 23 to help Detroit stun No. 9 Wisconsin-Green Bay 70-58 on Thursday night, handing the Phoenix their first loss of the season.
The Titans (13-11, 9-3 Horizon League) snapped the Phoenix's (20-1, 10-1) 40-game regular season winning streak and ended their bid for a second straight perfect season in the Horizon.
Top-ranked Baylor is the only unbeaten team left in Division I women's basketball.
Green Bay trailed for most of the game after falling behind by 14 early. The Phoenix took a brief 50-47 lead on Adrian Ritchie 3-pointer with just over eight minutes left but then scored just two points over the next seven minutes.
Detroit made its final 16 free throws to seal the win.
After a slow start by both teams, Detroit used a 17-0 run to take an early 22-8 lead as the Phoenix struggled to score. Green Bay made just three of its first 18 shots.
Green Bay battled back to make it 29-24 at the half despite shooting just 7-of-31 (22.6 percent).
Julie Wojta led the Phoenix with 16 points.
The Phoenix was without starting forward Sarah Eichler, who injured an ankle in practice earlier in the week. Green Bay also had four players foul out.
