Oshkosh - The DNR tested eleven different locations all around the Lake Winnebago system yesterday and found water clarity to be clear to the bottom in eight of the eleven locations. The areas shown in orange indicate where water clarity didn't reach the bottom. The Wolf and Fox rivers impact that clarity.

Winnebago Sturgeon Biologist Ron Bruch says specifically on Lake Winnebago: Black Wolf Point, Wendt's and Brothertown were locations where clarity did not reach the bottom.

"Pretty clear water over most of the lake. Almost everywhere they went they could see the bottom, even in 19 feet of water. Except in one spot on Winnebago where the Fox river enters the lake. The current goes south and it's bringing dirty water into the lake which is bumping up against the reef by long point island off of black wolf. At this point it's still better than it was last year but we have another week to go so that dirty water could defuse and start moving around in the lake and cause other areas to cloud up a little bit."
