APPLETON - There’s an environmental club at Appleton North… “We are the Hope club. That stands for; help our planet earth,” says Mrs. Stidham-Gebert, HOPE Club Advisor.
That's helping the DNR collect water samples… “We do some water testing in the Apple Creek which teaches us about what’s going on in the Fox River,” says Ms. Sadogierski, HOPE Club Advisor
And what are the samples for?
“To find the overall health of the water system in the area, it helps to pinpoint where pollution is coming from, the pollution that ends up in the Fox River,” says Marisa Alman, a HOPE Club Member
Through out the year the club encourages all students at Appleton North to: reduce, reuse, and recycle.
“We did a shoe drive. We saved over 400 shoes from going in different land fills,” says Erika Brown, HOPE Club Secretary
And the club members made a HOPE mosaic out of recycled materials.
“The materials are from recycled plates and tiles,” says Elizabeth HOPE club president.
Even though it looks like a lot of works, HOPE members what you to know...
“Recycling and environmental clubs can be fun,” says Elizabeth, HOPE club president.
