GREEN BAY - When Pulaski kicks off its 2013 football season it will do so with its fourth coach in as many seasons because after one year Jed Kennedy will leave for a new position.
Kennedy, who replaced Gary Westerman last season, will be the new coach at Edgewater High School in the Orlando (Fla.) area, a school with 1,900 students.
Obviously it’s an odd move going from Wisconsin to Florida, but Kennedy did have a connection.
“I used to coach in central Florida so I have connection down there,” he said. “A good friend of mine informed me of the position. The process happened pretty quickly.”
Kennedy led the Red Raiders to a 5-5 record and to Level 2 of the playoffs this past football season before losing to Green Bay Southwest, 27-25. Pulaski defeated De Pere, 35-22, in Level 1.
“It was a great year,” Kennedy said. “There are great kids at Pulaski who did everything we asked of them as coaches. I would have not left Pulaski for another job in the state. With that being said, the job at Edgewater was simply too great to pass up.”
Before coming to Pulaski, Kennedy won the Division 1 state title at Kenosha Bradford.
“Although we are very disappointed that Coach Kennedy is leaving us, we have been very pleased in the positive ways he has affected our students, not only on the football field, but throughout our school and community as well,” said Pulaski athletic director Jerad Marsh.
