State volleyball tournament underway

Oconto will play for division 3 title

GREEN BAY - Update - 7:30 pm, Friday, November 2

The girls volleyball state championship games for divisions 2-4 have been set.

In division two, Edgewood (26-8) will face Kettle Moraine Lutheran (34-10) at 3 p.m.  Edgewood beat Berlin 25-20, 27-25, 25-13 to advance.  Kettle Moraine Lutheran downed Tomahawk 25-18, 25-15, 25-21.

In division three, Oconto will vie for the division three title against Oostburg at 12:30 p.m.  The Blue Devils downed Cuba City 28-26, 22-25, 25-16, 25-2, while Oostburg moved past Grantsburg 25-20, 25-17, 25-23.

Division four will feature a matchup of Newman Catholic (29-10) and Catholic Central.  Newman Catholic defeated Hillsboro 25-21, 25-12, 25-15, while Catholic Central beat Luck 20-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-22.  The two teams will meet at 10 a.m. at the Resch Center.

The WIAA girls' state volleyball tournament got underway Thursday at the Resch Center. De Pere and Neenah were among the day one participants.

The 2nd ranked Rockets fell 3 sets to 1 to 3rd ranked Divine Savior Holy Angels while De Pere lost 3 sets to none to top ranked Burlington.
