Buffalo, NY (AP) - The Boolin Wall is relocating to Edmonton. The Oilers signed veteran goalie Nikolai Khabibulin to a four-year contract worth $15 million. He replaces Dwayne Roloson, who signed earlier in the day withthe New York Islanders.
The Chicago Blackhawks are showing their fans they meanbusiness, signing free agent winger Marian Hossa to a 12-year contract worth $62.4 million. The 30-year-old Hossa is coming off a 40-goal season with Detroit.
The Montreal Canadiens welcomed four free agents to the fold, with the big name being centre Mike Cammalleri, who signed a five-year contract worth $30 million. Cammalleri had 39 goals last season with Calgary.
Montreal also signed forward Brian Gionta, anddefencemen Jaroslav Spacek and Hal Gill. Gionta's contract is also for five years. The New York Rangers are already spending the money saved when Scott Gomez was traded to Montreal, handing it over to Marian Gaborik.
The Rangers signed the flashy forward, who had a career-high 42 goals in the 2007-08 with Minnesota, but was limited to 17 gameslast season due to injuries. The Wild quickly replaced Gaborik by signing winger Martin Havlat to a six-year contract.
Mike Komisarek is about to see the other side of hockey's oldest rivalry, with the free agent defenceman leaving Montreal to sign a four-year contract with Toronto. The Maple Leafs added more toughness to their lineup, nabbing Rangers enforcer Colton Orr.
Toronto also sent defenceman Pavel Kubina and a minor leaguer to Atlanta for defenceman Garnet Exelby and forward Colin Stuart. Henrik Sedin says he and his brother Daniel really like it in Vancouver, and that's where they wanted to stay. The two signed matching five-year, $30.5 million contracts to stay with the Canucks.
Signing the Sedins meant the Canucks had to part with another key Swede, with defenceman Matthias Ohlund signing for seven years with Tampa Bay. Long time Ottawa tough guy Chris Neil is staying with the Senators. He signed a four-year contract worth $8 million.
