MILWAUKEE (AP) - Two of the people who died in a Russian plane crash used to play for the Milwaukee Admirals.
Thirty six players, coaches and staff of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team, including European and former NHL players, died when the plane crashed into the banks of the Volga River Wednesday. It happened shortly after takeoff from Yaroslavl, 150 miles northeast of Moscow.
Robert Dietrich played for the Admirals in the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons and Karlis Skrastins was in Milwaukee for the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 seasons.
Jon Greenberg is the president of the Admirals, which are part of the American Hockey League.
He says the two men were not only good up-and-coming players but also wonderful people.
