SIOUX CITY - When the Sioux City Musketeers next come to play the Green Bay Gamblers, the head coach will be a familiar face to area hockey fans.

Luke Strand - formerly an assistant coach with both the Green Bay Gamblers and St. Norbert College - was named Sioux City's general manager and head coach Thursday.

“I can’t tell you how happy I am to be back in the USHL and especially with the Sioux City Musketeers. I appreciate the opportunity afforded to me by the Musketeers management and look forward to leading them to success both on and off the ice. The USHL is undoubtedly the best junior hockey league in the country and I am thrilled to be a part of it; but even more excited about the chance to lead the ‘tradition rich’ Musketeers organization,” said Strand in a press release .

Most recently, Strand was the assistant coach for the Houston Aeros of the AHL. the Aeros are the top farm club of the Minnesota Wild. Strand also served as head coach at UW-Eau Claire, his alma mater.
