MILWAUKEE - The WIAA boys soccer state tournament got underway Thursday at
Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.
Two teams from our area were in action in Division 1
play. Neenah took on Milwaukee Marquette, while Green Bay
Preble faced Milton.

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Milwaukee Marquette turned the tables on Neenah
at last.
The Hilltoppers, knocked out of the WIAA state boys soccer
tournament the last two years by Neenah, this time beat the Rockets
4-1 in Division 1 quarterfinals.
Sophomore defender Brock Menard scored a pair of goals to
lead Marquette (20-2-1). Neenah (16-4-3) was held to two shots on
goal.
The 6-foot-1 Menard used his height and bulk to convert a
pair of corner kicks from in tight. Menard entered the game with
just one goal this season.
Marquette advances to a semifinal Friday against Mequon
Homestead (18-4-3), which was a 2-1 winner over Eau Claire Memorial
(19-5-2) in another quarterfinal.
Homestead took a 2-0 lead on first-period goals by Andrew
Wiedabach and Stephen Sullivan.
In other quarterfinals, Muskego (25-3) beat Madison West 3-0
and Milton (15-10) topped Green Bay Preble 2-1.
Muskego's goals were by Tim Dahl, Andy Ksobiech and Tim
Hoffman.
Milton's game-winner was scored by Cole Aschenbrenner on an
assist by Adam Lysak in the second period to break a 1-1 tie.
Muskego faces Milton in Friday's other semifinal.
